Not that there were any reasons to doubt that Jelly Bean was indeed the name of the next Android version after Ice Cream Sandwich – or can you think of another good dessert that begins with J? – but now Google has quite literally spilled the beans.
In its private meeting area, Google has prominently placed a big bowl with delicious jelly beans, as The Verge has noticed. When asked for a comment, Andy Rubin, Google's Android chief, of course declined to confirm the name.
While Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich is still on less than 1% of all Android devices, the slew of new smartphones released at MWC should greatly improve that situation before the launch of Jelly Bean, probably to be called Android 5.0. Recent rumors suggest that LG might be the hardware partner for a Jelly Bean Nexus device.
