Grand Theft Auto III coming to (some) mobiles

Grand Theft Auto III coming to (some) mobilesTen years ago this very month, Rockstar released the highly controversial sandbox classic Grand Theft Auto III.

Now, a full decade later, Rockstar is set to release Grand Theft Auto III on “select new generation iOS and Android devices”.  There’ll be trouble if my phone isn’t on this friggin’ list.

The lucky devices are:

Apple iOS Devices

  • iPad 2
  • iPhone 4S

Android Phones

  • Droid X2
  • HTC Evo 2
  • LG Optimus 2X
  • Motorola Atrix
  • Samsung Galaxy S2

Android Tablets

  • Acer Iconia
  • Asus Eee Pad
  • Motorola Xoom
  • Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1

Hmm, the above are all dual-core, I believe. Rockstar says more devices will be announced soon.

Grand Theft Auto III saw the series move from top-down action to a full 3D environment, with protagonist Claude tearing it up in Liberty City. It was pretty freakin’ good.

“When?!” I hear you scream. Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto III is coming to those select devices in “fall”. Or autumn, to you and me.

Treab  Oct. 16, 2011 at 01:26

shadders i think its the evo 4g an american phone.

shadders139  Oct. 16, 2011 at 12:20

hmm,but the evo 4g was the first Evo, and the Evo 3d is it's successor, wouldn't that make it the Evo 2?

i dunno. some are suggesting rockstar leaked a possible new phone but we can only guess until we get confirmation...

shadders139  Oct. 16, 2011 at 15:35

i see, well i doubt it's a new leaked phone, because htc release a new htc evo in the us every year, so the next evo won't be coming round till summer 2012

Rockstar confirmed non-dualcoreiOS devices will get GTA III in "the future". No word about single-core Androids.
Ironic that the SE Play probably won't get it, eh ;)
