You know that extra pile of cash you've got lying around now that your Christmas shopping is (hopefully) done? Why not indulge yourself and splash out on a Gresso Avantgarde Grand Premiere – a snip at just $50,000.
Gresso has a long history of producing bespoke gadgets designed specifically for the upper crust (or the 1%, if you prefer).
And just like its previous efforts, the Grand Premiere is a study in design opulence and uses only the finest metals and materials.
There's around 140g of gold all told, including on the frame itself and on the laser-etched keys, while screen, front, and back panels are also covered with black sapphire.
Curiously, as is so often the case with gadgets like this, once you've stripped away its precious metals and fineries, the Grand Premiere turns out to be a fairly rubbish phone, as if the wealthy somehow aren't capable of understanding advanced technology.
It's the decidedly old-school Series 40 running the show, proving yet again that smart and good-looking very rarely get on with each other.
Then again, people slapping down $50k on a new phone are probably doing it for the exclusivity value, rather than the features and functions on board. With that in mind, Gresso is only making 30 of these gold-dipped beauties. You can't get much more exclusive than that.
