Where the heck’s the HTC Titan?

Where the heck’s the HTC Titan?Remember the HTC Titan? Living up to its name, the Titan had a monstrous 4.7in display, and was launched last year alongside the HTC Radar – both appearing in celebration of Windows Phone Mango’s arrival.

Well, over the past few days, the HTC Titan has mysteriously vanished from online retailers in the UK. What the…?

We’re waiting to hear back from HTC, but in the meantime the only explanation doing the rounds comes from a Phones 4U customer service rep.

Check it:

  • You: Are you still offering the HTC Titan?
  • Ioan: No we no longer have the Titan but we do have the Radar which is a Windows handset
  • You: why are you no longer carrying the Titan?
  • Ioan: It was not very popular and was not really selling so it has been changed im afraid

Has HTC initiated a retreat from the Windows Phone market in light of Nokia's high-profile arrival? Well, HTC has been a Windows Phone partner since launch (October 2010), firing out six handsets in total. The Taiwanese didn’t bring anything new to Mobile World Congress, but did promise Windows Phone 8 devices.

The HTC Titan 2 was revealed at CES in January, doubling the megapixelage to 16, but the presence of LTE pretty much rules out a UK appearance.

We’ll let you know what HTC has to say if/when it responds to our virtual poking.

Plenty of Titans available at Vodafone Ireland who also sell the Lumia.

And I really really don't care :P

Not. At all.

There was news of its absence yesterday, I don't think Lewis made the actual discovery :p.

Presume that's sell in the loose sense of the word.

Read that WP7 was restricted to xvga would make 4.7" rather large for that.

You're right, the Titan's screen PPI is (or should that be was?) pathetic. 480x800 over 4.7"....I don't know who thought that was a good idea...

HTC need to realise what people want to buy, not blame wp...
I love HTC hardware, but when looking for a phone for the wife, had to settle for the radar with it's 8 gb ram, for myself, I need 16gig, so that meant the titan, but I don't want a screen that big...

I want a radar with 16 gig, good cameras, yes, two of em, and a good size. And tat doesn't mean bloody massive.

bilbob, to be fair to HTC, Android is their main market. WP is just something on the side to occupy them when they're bored, in reality.
