High-end 10-inch Android tablet with 3G?
Is there a high-end Android tablet with a 10-inch screen and 3g?

Nope. Not atm

Galaxy Tab 2 not count as high end?
mrew42 Dec. 11, 2012 at 13:30
Or the Note 10.1?

Definitely not. Dual core 1ghz..

Or the Note 10.1?
Hadn't seen that as 3g tbh. Definitely closer fit, screen lets it down though.

If someone offered a swap with me of the 10.1 for my iPad 2 I'd jump it.
(if my wife let me that is - can't get her off the thing)

Yeah but that isn't high end either...

Really? Why?

Personal preference with Android over Apple. It's not bad just npt as good as I thought it should be. And i've run out of storage too many times to mention (its only 16Gb but as it was free I got nothing to complain about really)
I still end up using my Archos Internet Tab 2 more often

Do you guys really pay for two sim contracts with these 3g tabs?

I use prepay sims in my lady's iPad 2 3G thingy. Always get a free one for joining (again and again and again ) that comes with half a Gig - I must have accumulated quite a few sims

God, you're weird
Nah, I know for some things Android tabs are more efficient... I just wish there was one good app to help me justify buying a Note 10.1 - but there isn't. For my taste, anyways.

im sure ive heard ypu can get SIM card with a years free data (limited of course) for £10, why not have a 3G tablet and have all the advantages of not killing your phone/faster connection
Pondlife Dec. 11, 2012 at 23:31
Well the additional expense of the 3g tablet for one, faster battery drain and seems like 10" tablets would be more housebound than not?

Doesn't the Note 10.1 have a distinctly average display? I don't think it's even full HD, is it? As for 3G tablets, I see the point in them but personally I'd rather just tether a non-3G tablet to my phone and save the extra money.
Pondlife Dec. 11, 2012 at 23:40
No it's not full hd, same resolution as the tab 2 10 I think 1200 odd by 800 ish, hence saying the screen lets it down.
Yeah at most I'd go down the mifi route, get to upgrade to 4g when it's relevant then too.

The only 3G tablet I'd consider buying would be the N7 3G, due to the fact it's only £40 more than the Wi-Fi version and it can send texts. If it could make phone calls (for the odd occasion on which I feel the need to make/receive one), it would be a very, very interesting device.
Pondlife Dec. 11, 2012 at 23:57
Well the non-3g one has been seen for 179 (currently 189 looks the best though) and the 3g only seems to be on Google play so after postage it's getting on for £70 between the two at times.
There are apps to make the wifi one pair with phone to send texts, admittedly seems slightly pointless, some seem happy about it though.

True, have I told you I'm thinking of buying myself a Wi-Fi one to play with over Christmas?
I'd pair it with my phone if I got one (both via tethering and via that app you mentioned), that way I can leave my phone in my pocket, still have internet and not miss texts/have to swap devices to reply to texts. Seems a pretty good idea to me, especially since the N7 is small enough to fit in one hand and fit in a large pocket (though I usually have a bag for papers and folders from work, so that's not an issue really).

Yep you did say you might be getting one. The Modaco rom keeps getting better and better btw, tempting to get the subscription to make own version in the kitchen. Mind you if you have Sky, Sky Go being released could impact on whether you root or not I guess. Though they are trying to make it work.
Think there might be more than one app for it, I'm always swapping through devices tbh. Mind you with your phone struggling a bit it makes more sense your way for that reason too.
Yep not only will it just about fit in one hand, I've even put one in a jeans pocket without thinking about it and then thinking how the heck did that fit...

I don't have Sky, I have Virgin, so Sky Go not working with rooted devices doesn't bother me at all (though it is a stupid decision).
I usually have my pockets full of all sorts of crap, I struggle to get my phone in there on occasion . One of my biggest concerns with getting an N7, is my S2 becoming severely unloved and underused, I think it end up becoming a phone and a cellular modem, that's it.
The cheapest I can see the N7 atm is £190 from Sainsbury's, I should have got one when they were £180 with free delivery from CPW the other day, damn.
