This article is for our Mobotniks on the US side of the pond, who have a myTouch 4G Slide by T-Mobile and were craving for something other than the HTC Espresso interface on top of Android 2.3 Gingerbread.
Well, wait no more: the devs over at xda-developers have managed to port Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich onto the myTouch 4G Slide, using a leaked ROM originally intended for the HTC Sensation.
Of course, with a dual-core processor and generous 768 MB of RAM on the keyboard-toting 4G device, you might well expect Android Ice Cream Sandwich to be running smoothly.
However, with this ROM being in an early alpha stage, not everything may work smoothly or even at all. But since neither T-Mobile nor HTC have committed to bring the latest Android 4.0 version to the myTouch 4G Slide, we're afraid you'll have to get down and flashing sooner or later, if you really want all the Ice Cream Sandwich goodness.
So, if you want to know how to port Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and don't care about the warranty on your myTouch 4G Slide, let's see the juicy bits: follow this tutorial to get your myTouch 4G Slide (codename HTC Doubleshot) prepared for everything, and then download this Ice Cream Sandwich ROM and flash it.
Just keep in mind that things like video recording, the accelerometer, gyroscope, and compass aren't working yet.
