HP has today announced Pivot, a monthly app magazine for its imminent TouchPad tablet. It describes Pivot as “an entertaining and informative editorial resource for discovering webOS 3.0 applications”.
Pivot will be updated OTA on a monthly basis (in English, French, German and Spanish, initially) and will include features on both apps and their developers.
“Pivot brings app discovery to a new level for customers and developers alike,” says Richard Kerris, VP of webOS Worldwide Developer Relations. “We want our partners to experience webOS as the growing platform of opportunity, and we’re investing in new ways to help market their applications on our platform.”
Other promised content includes “visually driven” editorial pieces, columns from guest writers, and in-depth reviews.
Joe Simon, chief technology officer with Conde Nast, adds: “Pivot has the right focus. It provides an enriching experience for customers and is a great environment for developers considering the platform.”
The TouchPad arrives in the UK on July 2, and HP's European boss, Eric Cador, reckons it’ll be “better than number one”. Sigh.
