HP Slate 8 Pro specs: 4:3 ratio, quad-core Tegra 4, Android 4.2.2

HP Slate 8 Pro specs: 4:3 ratio, quad-core Tegra 4, Android 4.2.2In the wake of the overwhelming commercial disaster that was webOS, US manufacturer HP continues to keep a toe or two tentatively dipped in the world of mobile.

As pictured left, we’ve already had the Android-rockin’ HP Slate 7 (don’t be fooled by that lucky number); the successor is the logically named HP Slate 8 Pro, and we gots specs ahead of, like, any official words from Hewlett Packard.

We’re looking at a Google Chrome translation of a Notebook Italia article, with the headline: HP SLATE 8 PRO (AKA BODHI) DECLARES WAR ON IPAD MINI.

The logic there is in the display sizes and shared 4:3 aspect ratio. The iPad mini has a 7.9in display, while the HP Slate 8 Pro will be marginally bigger at 8in (1600 x 1200, incidentally).

Other noted HP Slate 8 Pro specs include a Tegra 4 processor clocked at 1.8GHz, and Jelly Bean (Android 4.2.2) on operating systems duties.

And, uhm, that’s about your lot for now as far as specs go. No word on an HP Slate 8 Pro release date or geographical availability or pricing just yet, but we’ll write more words when things happen.

Will be interesting to see the final price of this, I suspect with those specs that itll move away from the budget end of the market and so will probably match the iPad mini omn price.......Which is silly really as as the other article points out, the iPad still rules the roost with regards to properly formatted tablet apps

Until the number and quality of apps for Android tablets goes up, the iPad is unfortunalty still the best tablet option, meaning Android tablets have to be competitive on price to be a better option
