A few months ago we reported that HP was planning “one last run” of its TouchPad tablet, after selling ‘em off for ridiculous cheapness. Alas, as we exclusively discovered, the last batch will be US-only. Bah.
Now TechCrunch reports that the final run is set for liftoff. HP will flog the last of its TouchPads on eBay from Sunday.
The sale will start at 6pm Central time in the States. Let’s see; we’re six hours ahead, so that’d be midnight our time. I think.
You’ll be able to grab a 16 or 32GB HP TouchPad for the fixed price of $99 (£63) or $149 (£96) respectively, limit two per customer. They’ll be refurbished units with a 90-day warranty, and all sales are final.
A memo to HP employees in the US explains: “HP employees will have a chance to purchase a refurbished HP TouchPad via eBay before the sale is announced to the general public.
“Specifically, the TouchPads will be offered through one of HP’s newest marketplaces for close-out and refurbished HP products, the new HP eBay Store.”
HP recently announced that it’d decide the fate of webOS - the operating system adopted by the HP TouchPad and Pre 3 - “within two weeks”.
