HTC announces new SDKAs well as boasting about its spectacular sales – sorry, shipment – figures at Qualcomm’s Uplinq event in San Diego this week, HTC announced a new software development kit.

For those of us who weren’t lucky enough to be in attendance in sunny San Diego, HTC echoed its announcement with this tweet, and this official press release.

The HTC OpenSense SDK will allow developers to take advantage of the new features found in Sense 3.0, 3D display technology for supported devices (such as the upcoming HTC Evo 3D) and HTC’s Magic Pen.

The soon-to-be-launched HTCdev site will provide a support community for developers, with tools, tutorials and blogs.

HTC’s CEO, Peter Chou, says: "HTC is a company of engineers excited about the possibilities of the mobile space with the goal of fostering choice through innovation.

"We believe in openness and the power of imagination to create that innovation and are excited that HTCdev will extend new tools to mobile developers, helping them create the next wave of mobile experiences."
