Were the Htc Bresson and Sony Ericsson Duo elaborate hoaxes?

A couple of months ago there were rumours and "leaks" about these phones all over the internet, but now all seems to have gone quiet with no mention of these phones in forthcoming releases from either manufacturer.

Rob these do seem to have 'gone quiet' but never say never these maybe still in development or were discontinued. with htc releasing the titan and radar being confirmed. add on the likely ones coming on the 6th of october it may just have been renamed...

the duo could be delayed with sonys apparent fascination with the single core arc/arc s and playstation phone...

Agree with Treab.

The Htc may well pop up all of a sudden with a new name.
The Duo? Well, I'm convinced Sony Ericsson are in a lot of trouble. Serious trouble. Add to that a craptastic economy with only so much room for high-end devices, and it suddenly makes 'sense' that SE focus on midrangers and walkman-branded re-releases etc...

Nokia's troubles and the Samsung-Apple battle take some attention away from the fact that Sony Ericsson hasn't done quite so well recently. The X10 flopped, the Arc got good reviews initially but was almost immediately overshadowed by the Sensation and SGS2... And let's not mention the Play which has lost almost 60% of its value in 6 months or so...

Play now under 180 quid, delivered. It's lost another 20 quid in the last week. Only about 50 to go until I buy one. SE are failing, badly. Their phones are all average at best and the rumored dual cre SE phone sill be a year to late a MWC next January/February. I reckon they'll be out of the Android phone market by Q4 2012, unless the dual core rumored handset gets an upgrade to quad core and an HD screen.

Oh well the search for a new phone continues, maybe I'll wait untill Xmas and see what's about. But I've a funny feeling I'll be holding out for the release of the Sammy GSIII (so I have a long impatient wait to face)

Robk71, if you don't mind me asking, what phone do you currently have :)? Personally, I have an S2 and I'll most certainly waiting for the quad core, SGS3 before upgrading again. Even if you don't currently have a dual core device, I'd still recommend waiting as it's late in the day to be joining the dual core revolution now. You might as well either wait for quad core, so your device is top of the range for as long as possible, or buy a dual core once quad core come out, to save some cash. However you're inclined really :).

dual core phones are still worth the cash though imo especially when i buy one ;)

Treab, I've been meaning to tell you for about a week now, as you have to wait 2 months 'til your upgrade and I assume you'll be signing onto another 24 month contract, wait an extra few months and get an SGS3, or you'll be kicking yourself in early 2012 for not waiting. "Good things come to those who wait", buying a dual core now is like buying a Desire HD this time last year, trust me, don't bother, especially on a long contract mate.

tbh top of the range may not be top of the range ;) a quad core sounds brill... unless it ends up like the optimus 2x or a dog with almost no usable battery or gets tooo hot for example... whereas a sammy could end up cheaper and more usable ;)

SGS3....I'd bet you my SGS2 (my baby), that it'll be fan-fu* put it politely ;)

robk71  Sep. 27, 2011 at 22:14

SGS2 is the top dog at the moment, but I need a good camera phone for my work, the camera was a bit of a let down for what I need.
The SGS3, if the camera specs and optics and software improve, could be just the phone for me. A large gorgeous screen, zippy powerfull inner bits and a decent camera. Can you really have your cake and eat it?

Treab  Sep. 27, 2011 at 22:20

i will take the sgs2 gift wrapped and you can remove your modifications :P

matt101101 / MOD  Sep. 27, 2011 at 22:29

Don't you get cheeky about my modifications, boy ;). You're only getting it if the SGS3 is a bag-o-sh*t....not exactly likely, both the SGS' so far have been great devices.

Ahh fair enough, cameras and Android don't really mix to well haha :D. The Xperia Arc probably has the best 'droid camera, atm...shame about the rest of the phone... :/.

If the SGS3 has a good camera (the screen, being a Sammy is going to be awesome, as is the processor), it'll be a genuinely world beating phone, even more so than the S2, which like you say, is definitely tog dog, at the moment and has been for quite a while.
