HTC calling time on HTCSense service... for now

HTC calling time on HTCSense service... for nowBad news for data-hungry HTC fans: the Taiwanese firm has announced that the online portal will be shut down at the end of next month.

HTC has revealed the news via a post on the site itself, revealing that the move is part of a wider overhaul of its add-on.

Like many rival offerings out there, HTCSense offers users facilities to back up their contacts, messages and other data online, while also being able to track down or wipe data from your handset should it fall into the wrong hands.

“Features previously available on are no longer available. If you have been using to sync your Contacts, Messages, Footprints or Call History, you can download your data through April 30, 2012,” the notice reads.

The notice doesn't go into any detail in revealing the rationale behind the move, saying only that the service is “undergoing a renovation to improve the services and value we offer”.

I never used it either... A company that bloats my phone with a silly mostly malfunctioning Twitter crApp does not become treasurer of my important daya
