HTC calling time on HTCSense service... for now

HTC calling time on HTCSense service... for nowBad news for data-hungry HTC fans: the Taiwanese firm has announced that the HTCSense.com online portal will be shut down at the end of next month.

HTC has revealed the news via a post on the site itself, revealing that the move is part of a wider overhaul of its add-on.

Like many rival offerings out there, HTCSense offers users facilities to back up their contacts, messages and other data online, while also being able to track down or wipe data from your handset should it fall into the wrong hands.

“Features previously available on HTCSense.com are no longer available. If you have been using HTCSense.com to sync your Contacts, Messages, Footprints or Call History, you can download your data through April 30, 2012,” the notice reads.

The notice doesn't go into any detail in revealing the rationale behind the move, saying only that the service is “undergoing a renovation to improve the services and value we offer”.

For further info on how to retrieve your data, check out the rest of the post on HTCSense.com.
