HTC ChaCha gets unexpected 200MHz bump

HTC ChaCha gets unexpected 200MHz bumpThe Facebook-oriented HTC ChaCha first raised its head at Mobile World Congress almost four months ago, and you can finally grab one from The Carphone Warehouse.

Those not discouraged by the fairly unanimous feeling that the HTC ChaCha is one of the ugliest phones on the market will find an unexpected treat under the hood, in the form of an 800MHz processor.

When we first met the HTC ChaCha in Barcelona it was said to have a modest 600MHz of processing juice, but the official HTC ChaCha specifications page now reckons it’s more like 800MHz. Incidentally, that’s in line with the HTC Desire Z.

As well as its dedicated Facebook button, the HTC ChaCha has a full QWERTY keyboard under its 2.6in display, a 5MP camera, and Gingerbread (Android 2.3) doing the OS honours.

It’s priced at £229.95 SIM free from The Carphone Warehouse, and pay monthly HTC ChaCha options start at £20PM.

Even that won't make this phone any more significant.
