When HTC announced its Facebook phones – namely the ChaCha and Salsa – at Mobile World Congress in February, we were given a vague “Q2” as the expected release date.
The last we heard was "June" from T-Mobile. Now it sounds like the HTC ChaCha might be arriving in June in mainland Europe too, as suggested by an update on HTC DACH, the Taiwanese manufacturer’s German Facebook page.
HTC DACH has announced “HTC Sommer Event”, which will see the HTC ChaCha visit Dortmund in Germany (June 18), Wien in Austria (July 2) and Zurich in Switzerland (July 16).
Of course, us lucky devils in the UK are often treated to new HTC goodies before the rest of Europe, so we might see it even earlier than June 18.
The HTC ChaCha has a QWERTY candybar design, with a 2.6in screen, 600MHz processor and 5MP camera. It'll rock Android 2.3 (Gingerbread). Oh, and don’t forget the dedicated button below the keys, for instant Facebook action.
We’re not overly excited about the HTC ChaCha (er, didn’t someone call it the “ugliest phone at MWC”?), but it’s sure to sell by the bucket load with its Facebook tie-in.
