Why does my HTC Desire S browser keep crashing?

About 50% of the time I open the browser on my HTC Desire S it comes up with a white screen and I have to choose Force Close. What can I try in order to fix the issue?

Are you going on any... ahem... dodgy websites? If they're too intense they might be overloading your poor Desire S.

Was it like that when you first got the phone? If not, maybe a factory reset?
It's hard to recommend a fix without knowing a bit more.
Do other browsers work (Opera Mini/Opera Mobile/UCWeb/Dolphin etc) ???

Before doing a factory reset (Ouch Jan :) try going to
Menu -> Settings -> Applications -> Manage applications
Under the list of all apps, look for Internet
Select that and 'clear data'.
See if that helps.
