Technical specification? Desire HD, bigger screen (4.3inch vs 3.7inch), 8mp, not 5mp camera, they're the only differences apart from the Desire S has a bigger battery.

Personal preference? Sod them both, save some cash, get an original Desire (AMOLED if possible). It's IMO, nicer than the Desire S, has better battery life than the Desire HD. Also with the Desire HD, I don't like the S-LCD screen or how damn heavy it is. The Original Desire also has nice, metal, physical Android buttons and an optical track pad that's very useful on some websites when writing in boxes, this was removed from the Desire S, though the Desire HD does have an optical track pad, but has capacitive Android buttons.

If the choice is only between the two you mentioned, I'd go for the Desire S, unless you absolutely need a massive screen, even at 8MP, the Desire HD's camera is nothing special.

agree about the camera. The 8MP shooter on the Desire HD is nothing to write home about. At the time it beat many other Androids, but initially all Android cams were pretty bad, so there...

Also, batterywise the Desire HD is a stinker. The battery and simcover designer belong in tech-rehab.

When I had it, for a couple of weeks I loved it for the screen size, and the improvements to Sense, but then the disadvantages started to nag. I would honestly rather buy another HD2 than spend money on the Desire HD.e...

Is that an Official OTA update? Awesome if it is.

I can see that official image is available for download. Not from HTC though, so I'm assuming OTA is not available yet.

HTC RUU 3.06.405.1

If that's the case, the DHD has just gained a lot of respect from me. Even more so, when it's available as an OTA for "normal", users.
