Here’s one pulled purely from the giant collective speculatrix machine affectionately referred to as “the internet”.
With HTC and Qualcomm making vague announcements at roughly the same time this week, there might – might – be a spanking new Snapdragon 615-powered Desire launching at IFA 2014. Why the hell not?
According to G 4 Games, Qualcomm has declared on Weibo that its Snapdragon 615 processor – first announced in February – will finally make an appearance in devices at the end of Q3/beginning of Q4 i.e. end of September/beginning of October.
An end of September release could mean an early September launch, which could mean IFA 2014.
Meanwhile, HTC invites folk to attend its IFA 2014 breakfast on the morning of September 4, to “see what’s next for smartphones”.
Logically, putting the two pieces together, we could meet a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615-powered HTC Desire in Berlin, chock full of 64-bit, 8-core goodness.
Having said all that, one eagle-eyed internet man points out that the purported HTC IFA 2014 invite contains the slogan “Quietly Brilliant”, which was ditched back in 2013.
But! It’s not too far-fetched to expect HTC to make the journey to Germania, IFA being one of the biggest annual mobile conferences. And heck, we want to know more about the HTC One (M8) for Windows Phone. Is it being released in the UK?
The upshot here? Your guess is as good as mine.
