We’re fairly certain what we can expect from the HTC One M9 launch on Sunday, and indeed you can read a delicious synopsis in HTC One M9 launch preview: six things we think we know.
However, outspoken HTC guy Jeff Gordon says that, on the contrary, we have “NO IDEA” about certain aspects of the launch, just as the One M9 is revealed – ironically – in great detail.
Starting with Jeff, he’s clearly aware that anything he says will be relayed by the blogosphere, and indeed he caused a minor storm recently when he described the iPhone as “boring”.
Here he Tweets: “The best parts of HTC's March 1st launch event are the parts you have NO IDEA are coming.”
To be fair, Jeff doesn’t say he’s talking about the “new HTC One”, specifically, so maybe he’s referring to another device entirely, like a wearable, or a second smartphone.
For the record, the Taiwanese manufacturer recently teased: “Something HUGE is coming from HTC.” Hopefully that’s the HTC One M9 Plus.
Moving onto that near 4-minute HTC One M9 video, it’s actually comprised of two parts spliced together: a commercial with loads of people taking pictures (that'll be the 20MP non-Duo rear camera then), followed by a focus on design and features.
Curiously, the first half is silent, while the second half plays out in a bizarre taller-than-it-is-wide aspect ratio, so some of the text is cut off. We did, however, spot these:
- “Displays your apps based on your location”
- “Now serves up meal time suggestions”
- “Better selfies in low light”
- HTC BoomSound with Dolby Audio Surround Sound
All sounds good to us! Again, the HTC One M9 launch goes down on Sunday. We’ll be ditching church (sorry, God) to bring you all the latest.
