HTC One KitKat update rolling out ‘from January 2014’

HTC One KitKat update rolling out ‘from January 2014’Where’s my KitKat update? Where’s my KitKat update? Where’s my KitKat update? Where’s my KitKat update? Where’s my KitKat update? Where’s my KitKat update? Where’s my KitKat update? Where’s my KitKat update? Where’s my KitKat update? Where’s my KitKat update?

That’s the chant we’ve been hearing from obsessive Android owners the world over since the debut of KitKat Android 4.4 a few weeks ago, and if you happen to own an HTC One, the answer is: sometime around the end of January.

That’s the word straight from the horse’s mouth, via the glorious medium (ahem) of twitter.

Skillfully keeping it to 140 characters or less, HTC UK tweets: “We're working with our local carriers to begin the rollout of Android 4.4 and Sense 5.5 for the #HTCOne from end of January 2014.”

That promise is given credence by a similar tweet from HTC USA, yelling: “Android 4.4 and Sense 5.5 will come to HTC One users across North American carriers by the end of January.”

Still not convinced? Try this on for size, a further tweet from HTC USA: “We're planning to upgrade the Droid DNA to 4.4 by the end of Q1, pending certification from your carrier.” Er, ok, end of Q1 for the Droid DNA, but that's for our transatlantic cousins to worry about.

KitKat Android 4.4 features include the, uhm, ability to print, and the option for developers to utilise a spanking new full-screen “immersive mode” i.e. it’s probably not worth getting your knickers in a twist if you have to wait a couple of months.
