Taiwanese manufacturer HTC recently played its Windows Phone 8 hand, launching the HTC 8X and 8S over in New York. Conspicuous by its absence, however, was the rumoured HTC Zenith, which may or may not be named after the pictured Zenith cruise ship.
According to HTC China’s boss man, the Zenith, or something similarly large, is indeed in production.
That’s the story as reported by our favourite Chinese site, WPDang (dang!), which recently interviewed HTC’s Ren Weiguang.
A translation reveals that “HTC has a larger screen size Windows Phone 8 phones in development”, and that the 8X and 8S “can be regarded as the HTC first wave of attack.”
Somewhat confusingly, the HTC 8X and 8S aren't the same size as the One X and One S. The former weigh in at 4.3in and 4in respectively, and face stiff competition from the 4.5in Nokia Lumia 920 and 4.8in Samsung ATIV S.
As for the HTC Zenith, it was rumoured to have a 4.7in display, same size as the Windows Phone Mango-rockin’ HTC Titan. Remember it?
