A previous equation clarified: HTC M4 = HTC First – Facebook Home + UltraPixels, and quite frankly the accompanying image left us feeling firmly unimpressed.
It comes as a huge relief, then, that this latest leak paints a picture more akin to the sexy HTC One, while the internals are still expected to be comparatively modest. Sounds good to us.
For all intents and purposes, the HTC M4 looks like a smaller HTC One (remember it was codenamed M7?), ‘cept it repositions the flash on the rear, and the little stereo speaker holes on the front have a slightly different configuration.
Rumoured HTC M4 specs include a 4.3in 720p display, dual-core processor, UltraPixel camera, 2GB of RAM, 16GB internal storage (presumably without microSD), Jelly Bean (Android 4.2), and a 1,700mAh battery.
We’ve been told that the HTC One is the only One this year, but don’t be surprised to see the HTC M4 drop as the HTC One <insert arbitrary letter>.
Oh, and am I reading too much into the date on the HTC M4 image above? It says “Mon, May 16”, which – turns out – isn’t actually a valid date in 2013. Hmm. That said, the HTC M4 launch is tipped for Q2, so it mighn’t be far wrong.
