HTC’s mysterious Double Exposure event is now just a week away, and here we’re getting a closer look at one of the front-runners for launch.
I speak of the HTC One M8 Eye, and for all intents and purposes, it looks – and sounds – almost identical to the existing One M8.
Confusingly, the HTC One M8 Eye leak comes from @evleaks on Weibo. Sorry, @evleaks as in the retired Evan Nelson Blass? On Weibo? In China? What?
In reference to a previous @evleaks Weibo story, Evan tweets: “Looks like ‘I’ had a pretty good leak today :D”. Ok, that solves that! Name: hijacked.
Anyway! The leak doesn’t give away much about the HTC One M8 Eye, other than confirming – again – that it’s aesthetically the same phone as the One M8 we already know and love.
Indeed, rumour has it HTC One M8 Eye specs will be nigh on identical to those of the existing One M8, too. Well, nigh on.
The big – and perhaps only – change is the rear camera. HTC introduced UltraPixels when it launched the original One in early 2013, but it appears to be abandoning them here in favour of a more orthodox 13MP rear camera. The secondary sensor will remain in play, according to GSMDome.
And, er, that’s about the size of it. Double Exposure is tipped to play host to some sort of waterproof action camera, too, but don’t expect the HTC-built Google Nexus 9 till later in the month.
