Well, the HTC One (M8) is finally here, in all its dual-camera, aluminium unibody glory (that's it on the left), and that means it’s time to start thinking about variants, much like the Samsung Galaxy S5 has – or will have shortly – the S5 Zoom and S5 mini.
We’ve already been told to expect an HTC One M8 mini, and a familiar name throws the M8 Ace into the mix.
Yep, it’s @evleaks tweeting again, this time whispering: “M8: check M8 mini: check M8 Ace: ???”
It’s interesting that the leakster puts a “check” beside the HTC One M8 mini, as it’s still entirely unofficial, though it was @evleaks who originally detailed the phone, so maybe he’s convinced – beyond all reasonable doubt – of the thing’s existence.
Incidentally, HTC One M8 mini specs are rumoured to include a 4.5in 720p display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor (sigh), and 1GB of RAM (double sigh).
As for the HTC One M8 Ace, no further detail is given at the moment, but it’s probably fair to assume it’ll be the 2014 equivalent of 2013’s HTC One Max, though it’s currently just five months old, so don’t expect the successor to touch down any time soon.
Heck, we could be waiting until IFA 2014 for the HTC One M8 Ace, but that’s purely speculation at this stage.
And if you’re not already well and truly baffled by HTC’s naming conventions (calling the HTC One’s successor the… HTC One?), bear in mind that Ace was the codename for the original HTC Desire HD. Brilliant.
