To be honest, we’d pretty much given up hope of the HTC One M9 Plus being a real thing, much like the rumoured One M8 Max (Ace) faded into nothingness this time last year.
However, a fresh HTC One M9 Plus rumour breathes new life into the idea, as well as some new specs.
Credit goes to @onleaks, aka The Twitter Account of the Guy From French-Language Mobile Site Nowhereelse.fr. For starters, Steve tweets: “#HTC One M9 Plus = 5.2" screen / 150.9 x 72.5 x 10.15 mm.”
A 5.2in display would make the HTC One M9 Plus 0.2in bigger than the 5in One M9, while those dimensions make it wider, taller and thicker than the base model at 144.6 x 69.7 x 9.6 mm.
Asked if the HTC One M9 Plus might be QHD (that’s a resolution of 2560 x 1440, or 3.7 million pixels; some were disappointed that the One M9 was merely 1080p Full HD), Steve says: “No idea”.
He does, however, add that we can expect the HTC One M9 Plus to include “a dual camera on the back and a physical button (fingerprint sensor ?) on the front”. Last time HTC attempted a fingerprint sensor was on the One Max (2013).
HTC seems pretty happy with the One M9, but some feel the manufacturer could use a proper bruiser to take on the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the inevitable Galaxy Note 5, not to mention the LG G4 (which might well have the highest resolution ever on a smartphone) and the Sony Xperia Z4.
