HTC’s 2012 got off to a pretty awful start (93 comments – all on topic, natch), and its Q2 wasn’t much better, despite the arrival of the flagship HTC One X, alongside the One S and One V.
Now we’re told that HTC has been reassessing its Q3 forecast, with various numbers being trimmed down like some unruly bush. Oh dear.
You can read more about the numbers and that over at the Gear of Slash (or SlashGear, if you prefer). In layman’s terms: the figures smell like poo.
HTC doesn’t explain why it’s being so pessimistic, though the HTC One X continues to take an absolute beating from the ultra-popular Samsung Galaxy S III. Sucks to be HTC.
To make matters worse, Samsung is tipped to launch the Galaxy Note II before the end of this here month.
And let’s not forget those chaps over in California. The latest murmurings suggest Apple will unveil the iPhone 5 in September.
China's Huawei is also tearing it up on the smartphone scene, with the likes of the Ascend G300 and the imminent Ascend D1 Quad.
While we’re pouring on the hurt, let’s add that HTC was snubbed when it came to Windows 8 tablets.
All in all, pretty freakin’ bleak, man. On the plus side, the Windows 8-rockin' quad-core HTC Zenith might be alright.
