One of the highlights of October could be – according to the rumour mill – the launch of an HTC-built Google Nexus 9 tablet with premium specs and a suitably premium price tag.
Before then (the Nexus 9 will likely be near the end of October), the Taiwanese manufacturer will hold an event in NYC called HTC Double Exposure. Mark October 8 in your diaries, along with a big red question mark.
Needless to say, the HTC Double Exposure invite doesn’t say anything too particular, though the name – and the presence of a couple of people taking a selfie – leaves little doubt that it’ll focus (pun intended) on cameras in some capacity.
It seems unlikely that we’ll meet a spanking new device, with the general consensus being that the announcement will pertain to some sort of camera update.
Having said that, it seems weird that HTC would announce an entire event just to detail something as simple as a software tweak, and that it’d announce such an event a month in advance. Hmm.
One thing’s for sure; HTC is putting a lot of weight behind its camera output. In 2013, the HTC One introduced UltraPixels, while this year’s HTC One (M8) throws a second sensor on the back for depth of field and customisation type stuff.
