We were starting to think HTC might’ve ditched the Prime and Ignite. We first heard about the WP7 handsets a few months ago, but it’s been all quiet on the Prime and Ignite front since then.
More recently we’ve been hearing about the high-specced Mango-running HTC Omega and Eternity, but it looks like the modest Prime and Ignite are on their way after all.
Both handsets have popped up on The Phone House, a Dutch subsidiary of The Carphone Warehouse. They’re “verwacht vanaf nog niet bekend”, which apparently translates as “expected from unknown”. According to Google Translate.
In terms of specs, both the HTC Prime and Ignite have 3.7in displays and 5MP cameras. The main difference is that the Prime has a slide-out four-row QWERTY keyboard.
The HTC Ignite is thought to have an 800MHz processor and we’d expect to see something similar on the HTC Prime.
HTC is responsible for around half of the Windows Phone 7 handsets in the UK, with the HTC 7 Pro, HTC HD7, HTC 7 Mozart and HTC 7 Trophy. You can read more about them in Windows Phone 7 – the handsets.
