HTC smartphones do a great many things very well, but it's safe to say taking pictures isn't really one of them.
That may be as much to do with Android as anything else, though, as a new ad for a forthcoming Windows Phone 7-powered HTC phone shows off a device that puts an incredible 16 megapixels of photo-taking power under your shutter release finger.
We're not altogether sure what to make of the ad, which has been surfaced by PocketNow. The voice-over is done by an Australian accent, which seems odd unless it's an ad meant for that market, while the only actual image of a phone you see during the 22-second clip is a shot of what looks pretty much exactly like a variation on the HTC Desire family.
Details are pretty thin on the ground too. All we're given is the headline megapixel count, and the fact that our mystery HTC handset also boast a dual LED flash.
What seems most likely to us is that the ad is either a hoax, or a concept ad still to make it into final form. After all, there's no mention of a model name, or any other details whatsoever.
We'll be sure to keep our eye on this one, and will update you as soon as things become clearer.
