HTC One X release date revealed as April 5?

HTC One X release date revealed as April 5?Get your salt sachets ready, kids. Some semi-official whispers from O2 appear to suggest that the HTC One X release date will be April 5. Heck, that’s just under three weeks away.

Thanks to the transparent nature of Twitter, we can dive right in and see exactly what was said. It’s like Sliver for the 21st century. Or something.

A young lass called Nicole asked: [email protected] any idea on the tariffs and if existing customers need to pay for the @htc one x?”

To which O2 replied: “Hi Nicole, we’re not due to get the HTC until 5th April so no decision on tariffs yet…keep an eye here: [link to O2 pay monthly tariffs]”.

We’re not entirely sure what to make of this, as the O2 Twitter account is “the official home of O2 on Twitter. Run by the social media team.” However, over on O2’s coming soon pages, the HTC One X release date is simply noted as April.

In any case, the HTC One X will definitely arrive next month at some point. Almost time for the old HTC Desire HD to take a trip to the recycling bin.

The HTC One X has a 4.7in display (1280 x 720), quad-core Tegra 3 processor and 8MP camera with 1080p vid cap.

Not sure how much I'd expect the social media team to know tbh, but guess it wouldn't be big surprise

Phones4U already have tariffs and a delivery date of 6th April. It's coming soon!

I wish mate :p, nah, I've still got another 14 months on the Sensation! Still love it though, even with Gingerbread :)

Not too bad then, firstly you're in a great position next year when it comes to buying a new phone, the MWC 2013 phones will just be coming out and secondly the Sensation can be upgraded to a Sensation XE and is getting ICS :).

My plan exactly :)

question becomes will the mwc 2013 phone be hex-cored...

TBH, I would be in phone heaven if I could get a phone with One X-esque specs and size, with a 2500 mAh battery. I don't really need the extra power, hell my Sensation's had an "easy" life. The odd bit of flash video is the only work-out it ever gets. ;)

No, they'll be Cortex A15 (probably quad-core), at the high-end.

moonmonkey  Mar. 17, 2012 at 09:05

Why does one need 4 cores anyway? I find 2 is quite sufficent...

matt101101 / MOD  Mar. 17, 2012 at 11:18

Web pages still load slower than my PC
Demanding games still drop frames during intensive scenes
Flash video still isn't as well behaved as it is on my PC
A more powerful GPU (which is included in these quadcore SoCs) is useful for powering stuff in 720p all the time.

So there are quite a few reasons why a quadcore processor, if optimized correctly, could be very useful.
