HTC sensation XL confirmed... (shocker aint it..)

Three uk / htc have confirmed the sensation xl a 4.7" monster with beats..

this is the rumoured specs as only the screen size has been confirmed on threes blog...

http://www.pocket-lint.com/news/42232/htc-sensation-xl-htc-runnymede

The Android 2.3.4 phone is said to have a 1.5GHz processor, 768MB of RAM, an 8-megapixel camera on the back and a 1.3-megapixel one on the front. Its big talking point, literally, is the display at a mammoth 4.7 inches and a 960x540 qHD resolution. Storage is said to be 16GB or 32GB.

im hoping the RAM is upgraded to 1gb otherwise thats the one disappointment...

My gawd... this phone is awful...

16gb built in... 12.4gb available... but no external memory slot...

1.5ghz SINGLE core processor...

768mb ram...

lets hope they make this cheap as the sensation xe is a 1.5ghz dual core...

Is this the famous Runnymede?

Treab  Oct. 6, 2011 at 19:43

HTC did it!!! I can't look at that homescreen anymore!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Get a new wallpaper and do something with that clock!!!!!!!!!!

Not even the OCD tidiness of the iPhone's iconised homescreen is so "not-again".

C'mon, HTC, we all know your name now. We all get the pun-friendliness of your UI skin's name. Sorry, it's not me - it's you. We can't meet anymore.

Seriously, though - including the Htc cool-tax, that much cheaper Acer 4.7 Smart is probably the better deal.

Looks pretty good. Nice to see that there is a contender to new Nexus.
Agreed with small amount of memory. Would be nice to see 1GB+.

HTC phones would always look the same with their Sense UI. This is their brand that distinguishes them from others. Kinda same way iPhones look the same. Leave it at that and personalize, if you choose too.

mrew42  Oct. 7, 2011 at 08:51

Yup, I agree with CTPAHHIK. There's so much you can do to customise that front screen Jan, you don't have to leave it as it is.

JanSt / MOD  Oct. 7, 2011 at 09:56

mrew, et al - I know how customisable Sense is; I've been using it when it was still Manilla. I mean PR material-wise HTC should change theme for a change. The look's getting old, and I think the Logo and brandname are well enough established at this point to drop that wallpaper and the masive clock. My eyes are bored :p

I wasn't criticising Sense, just the repetitive use of the same homescreen image.

Treab  Oct. 7, 2011 at 10:28

now now jan its not a HTC phone without that clock :p

i do hope HTC price this right i.e. below the cost of the sensation... a single core phone with the same specs as the sensation except a larger screen and bigger built in memory all be it smaller than i can add to a sensation its just not right.... disappointed is not the word....

CTPAHHIK  Oct. 7, 2011 at 10:42

What make you think it's single core? MSM8255T chipset is only one with single core, does it say anywhere it will have it?

Jan, this is exactly why I would never let you through a front door of a marketing department. :p

CTPAHHIK
I know :p I could ruin Apple in a week - even if the resurrection machine brought back St Jobs!

its a carbon copy of their titan.

Treab  Oct. 7, 2011 at 10:46

jan you ruin most things :p look at symbian ;)

CTPAHHIK  Oct. 7, 2011 at 11:15

Thanks, Treab for review. Looks like utter crap of a phone, unless it's under £200.

mrew42  Oct. 7, 2011 at 11:40

So it's just a rehash of the WP7 device.
Doesn't deserve the name Sensation.....

matt101101 / MOD  Oct. 7, 2011 at 12:02

It's a terrible phone, they sacrificed power for a therefore pointlessly big screen...it doesn't deserve the Sensation name at all, it's more like a Desire HD+. If anyone who's not a regular is reading this, buy a Sensation XE if you want beats, it's a much better all round device (unless this turns out to be sh*t cheap).

mrew42  Oct. 7, 2011 at 12:32

Better still buy the Sensation and stick the Revolution 3.6.1 ROM on it. Hey presto, you've got a Sensation XE

matt101101 / MOD  Oct. 7, 2011 at 12:38

True, but I decided "normal", people might not want to play with ROMs :p.

mrew42  Oct. 7, 2011 at 13:23

Matt, that's just weird. How can you even think such a thing ;)

Treab  Oct. 7, 2011 at 13:51

because 99% are normal and not geeks like you ;)

mrew42  Oct. 7, 2011 at 15:01

I've had 44 years practice thats why....

Treab  Oct. 7, 2011 at 15:08

44 years of geekiness... jeez thats like twice my age ;)

mrew42  Oct. 7, 2011 at 15:48

Treab  Oct. 7, 2011 at 15:56
