HTC One S Special Edition comes in white, packs 64GB storage

HTC One S Special Edition comes in white, packs 64GB storageThe HTC One S launched back in February at Mobile World Congress, and was in fact favoured by our Jan over the larger, pricier, higher-specced HTC One X. Just saying.

Fast-forward eight months and now we’re hearing official word of an HTC One S Special Edition. Tell us more, High Tech Computer Corporation.

Before you get too excited, it looks like the HTC One S Special Edition might be exclusive to HTC’s home turf of Taiwan. There’s certainly nothing to suggest it’s heading to the UK any time soon.

The big news concerning the HTC One S Special Edition, other than its new Snow White jacket, is that the internal storage is quadrupled from 16GB to 64GB. We like.

Otherwise, HTC One S Special Edition specs remain unchanged, so you’re looking at a 4.3in Super AMOLED display, dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor clocked at 1.5GHz, and an 8MP rear camera, all housed in 7.8mm of phone.

As I say, no word on a UK release for the HTC One S Special Edition at this stage, but we’ll keep our fingers crossed. Er, not literally.

This would've been good about 7 months ago when they launched the damn thing.

They are doing this because they released the Snapdragon s3 version of this phone in Asia back in march(april?), but people complained so much that htc felt the need to replace the s3 version with the s4 and add more Rom to it to sell more units. That's why you often see buyers asking whether it's the s3 or the s4 version.

Ah, but not much happened in the last 7 months. I'd say in the 4.3-in range the One S is still the best (sorry, S2-lovers - aka matt)

Until the 8X gets launched ;) Looks sweet (if you ignore that HTC has ballsed up on the ROM again).

Don't worry, my: removable battery, expandable memory, non-pentile display and factory unlocked bootloader aren't offended ;).

8x is that WP8 thing, right?

So, who cares :p

(and PS: yep, the battery, bootloader and storage on the One S are bummers, but out-of-the-box it's funner)

A lazier upgrade than even the XE editions of last year unless lte is hidden away in spec somewhere. And white phone, yeurgh

Gotta admit: white gadgets aren't exactly my thing, either. E71 was the only good-looking phone in white imho. The white SGS3 looks like a cheap knock-off :p

Lazier? The Sensation XE hardware is EXACTLY the same as the Sensation. A bit of red paint a logo and a tweak of the firmware is damn lazy. At least this gives peeps some decent memory.

Pondlife  Oct. 18, 2012 at 16:20

The XE got a memory bump too iirc and processor speed increase.
That's two things, this has one.
And the XE colour was better ;)

Same hardware - just f irnwareupclocked. My 1.2Ghz Sensation runs @1.7Ghz.
Same s**t. Different colour.

Pondlife  Oct. 18, 2012 at 22:16

Just bitter as you got the crappy one ;)

Cheaper and free to upgrade one, you mean ;)?

Pondlife  Oct. 18, 2012 at 22:48

Nah the smaller internal memory and smaller battery one

mrew42  Oct. 19, 2012 at 07:57

Lol, smaller technically but same usable memory. And with my under a tenner fleabay 1900MaH battery installed I love nothing. In fact I gain from not having that god awful beats **** on my rom :)

I agree with you entirely re all Sensation vs XE comments.

Like you are sticking with your SGSII i'll be sticking with my Sensation until something substantially better comes out. Or it breaks.
