HTC One SV coming to UK with microSD and replaceable battery

HTC One SV coming to UK with microSD and replaceable batterySweet mother of all things beautiful. Mobot regulars will know that two of my pet peeves are terrible a) UIs, and b) naming conventions.

With the latter in mind, brace yourselves for something called the HTC One SV (no, I did not make that up), coming soon to the UK.

Back at Mobile World Congress in February, we met the HTC One S and HTC One V. While adopting completely arbitrary letters (they don’t stand for – or mean – anything), at least we had two distinct handsets.

Now, muddying the waters in utterly astounding fashion, the Taiwanese manufacturer has pushed both letters together to form the HTC One SV. For f…

Logic (if such a thing exists) dictates that the HTC One SV should be some sort of HTC One S/One V crossover hybrid type beast, right? Well, surprisingly, that is the case. Sort of.

HTC One SV specs include a 4.3in display, same as the HTC One S but with a lower resolution (480 x 800 versus 540 x 960). The new chap also has a 5MP rear camera, on par with the HTC One V.

Like the HTC One V (but unlike the higher specced HTC One S), the HTC One SV welcomes an additional 32GB of storage (it ships with 8GB) via microSD.

Other HTC One SV specs include a dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor at 1.2GHz, replaceable battery, 1GB of RAM, NFC (Near Field Communication), 4G LTE, and – disappointingly – Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0).

Interested? You won’t have long to wait for the HTC One SV's UK release. It’s arriving “in the coming weeks”.
