The HTC Wildfire seems like a good choice for a cheapish Android phone. It has a 5MP camera, but the screen resolution is quite low. Has anyone used it?

Yes, in a word. The resolution is very low and the screen itself is very small for a full touch screen phone. Also the brightness and colour levels are pretty poor as well, sorry to disappoint you. I would however full recommend an original Desire, they're pretty cheap now and have a great screen, both the first batch AMOLED and later S-LCD screens are both FAR superior to the wiildfire's screen.

Or go for the Orange San Francisco which is every bit as capable as the Wildfire but with a far better screen resolution.
