What a month it's now looking like being. As if Apple, Nokia, Motorola, Microsoft and Amazon unveiling new kit wasn't enough, HTC now looks like getting in on the action too.
It's asked the mobile press to “save the date” of September 19, where it promises we'll get the chance to “see what's next”. Exciting stuff.
That's all we have to go on for the time being, but it's pretty likely that we'll be looking at some Windows Phone 8 Apollo-related product news. Just last week some pretty meaty rumours were swirling around regarding an HTC Accord, with the final name now looking likely to be the HTC 8X.
Common consensus is that the 8X will be joined by a mid-range HTC 8S and an entry-level HTC 8V – with respective screen sizes coming in at 4.7in, 4.3in and 4in.
If we are just a fortnight away from seeing three HTC Windows Phones launching it would signify a major push for some serious WP8 market share – possibly a result of the company's slipping fortunes in the Samsung-dominated Android arena.
Either way, the new faces will need to bring something fairly serious to the table, as we don't know how many more changes to HTC's naming strategy we can take.
