There aren't too many decent smartphones retailing SIM-free for around £100, but Huawei's Ascend G300 is unquestionably one of them, giving you a respectable 4in display and a reasonable list of features considering the budget price tag.
So we were pleased to see its successor – the Ascend G330 – touch down at IFA 2012 a few months ago, and thanks to TalkTalk you'll be able to get your hands on one just in time for Christmas.
That's not quite the October on-sale date we reported when the Ascend G330 first surfaced, but considering the G300 itself only launched in February maybe we shouldn't be too surprised.
So what do you get for your money? A similar all-round blend of modest but capable features, it turns out. The display is still pegged at 4in (480 x 800 resolution), while the processor has doubled up to a dual-core unit, still at 1GHz, and as before you have a 5MP camera round the back.
Memory is still a little tight at 512MB, but internal storage has been bumped up from 2.5GB to 4GB.
One clear advantage the Ascend G330 offers is it runs Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich out of the box, which may not sound like a big deal in these Jelly Bean-flavoured times, but it's a fair improvement on the Android 2.3 Gingerbread of its predecessor.
TalkTalk has nabbed exclusive rights on this entry-level Android campaigner, and so is your only choice if you want an Ascend G330 this side of the New Year. But it comes free on contracts starting at just £10 per month, which sounds like a good deal for a backup device or a gift for a family member.
