MWC 2013: Huawei Ascend G526 ballsily rocks iOS-style theme

MWC 2013: Huawei Ascend G526 ballsily rocks iOS-style themeThe Ascend P2 is currently grabbing most of the attention over at Huawei’s Mobile World Congress display, but it’s not all about the “world’s fastest” (in terms of data speeds) smartphone.

The Chinese manufacturer is also debuting something called the Huawei Ascend G526, notable for having a familiar-looking theme.

Maybe it’s just the way that this particular Huawei Ascend G526 has been set up, or maybe it’s the default theme. In either case, you’d be forgiven for thinking you’re looking at some sort of Chinese iPhone knock-off.

While Android UIs are often cluttered with manufacturer-specific nonsense and widgets, the Huawei Ascend G526 is pictured with simple rows of icons, with four of the little chaps remaining static at the bottom. Fantastic.

Huawei Ascend G526 specs include a 4.5in IPS display, dual-core 1.2GHz processor, 1GB of RAM,  a 5MP rear camera and token VGA shooter on the front, 1,950mAh battery, LTE connectivity, and Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) – as opposed to iOS 6.

Interesting to note that the micro-USB charging port sits at the top of the left hand side, which reportedly makes the Huawei Ascend G526 a bit of a nightmare to use when it’s charging.

Huawei isn’t saying too much about Ascend G526 price or availability just yet, but we’ll relay said info just as soon as it hits our virtual desks.

It's called MIUI, not iOS style theme.

As i type, the Apple lawyers are rubbing their hands together with a smile on their face, wondering what tie to wear to this court session....

Which Island are you from? This has been around from ages and available pretty much for every Android device on the market.

CTPAHHIK... there's a difference between a 3rd party ROM or theme, and an OEM skinning their 'official' UI just like that - including iOS-style folders, extremely similar icons etc...
Not that I give a flying duck - apart from "which is uglier and more boring".

Seems odd to base it on the most tired looking os anyway.
Depends where it launches as to whether it becomes an issue.
Found no issue with charging point in that location in the past.
