Huawei Ascend P2 tipped for octo-core glory

Huawei Ascend P2 tipped for octo-core gloryChinese manufacturer Huawei had a pretty decent showing at CES 2013 last month, with the Ascend D2 (“world’s most powerful smartphone”) and 6.1in Ascend Mate.

But the cheeky Chinese chaps still have a few tricks up their sleeves, and there are signs that they might be about to steal the show at Mobile World Congress with the Huawei Ascend P2.

Firstly, we’re hearing that the Huawei Ascend P2 might be one of the first smartphones in the world to rock an octo-core processor.

To be fair, that’s purely speculation at this stage, with SlashGear seemingly the culprit. A previous rumour suggested the Huawei Ascend P2 would have a quad-core 1.8GHz processor.

No one seems quite sure about the Huawei Ascend P2’s display size either, with suggestions of 4.5in, 4.7in and 5in across the cyberweb.

In any case, it's sounding potentially pretty sweet. We’ll find out for sure when Mobile World Congress 2013 opens its doors two weeks on Monday.

Finally, to see us out, we have a pair of suitably rubbish leaked pics of the Huawei Ascend P2, courtesy of GizChina. Fug it, let’s stick the second one in, right here:
