Have we men of Mobot written about the Windows Phone 8-rockin’ Huawei Ascend W1 before? Yes, we have. And it was yours truly behind the words. Good lord, my memory is terrible.
Anyway! The latest Huawei Ascend W1 rumours suggest the cheeky Chinese chap has booked a flight to Las Vegas in January, and you know what that means, right? CES 2013, baby.
Last we scribbled about the Huawei Ascend W1, we relayed rumours of price, though – somewhat bizarrely – nothing at all on specs. Other than Windows Phone 8 being the OS, of course.
Now we’re told that the Huawei Ascend W1 launch will take place at CES 2013 in January, though it sounds like a fairly modest kinda guy.
Huawei Ascend W1 specs are tipped to include a 4in display (800 x 480), 5MP rear camera, VGA front-facing shooter, 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 512MB of RAM, and 4GB interal storage (augmentable via microSD, phew).
The aforementioned rumours, from September, put the Huawei Ascend W1 price at circa £200.
Nothing worth getting hugely excited about then, but if Windows Phone 8 wants to capture double figure market share, it’ll need a range of devices at various price points.
CES 2013 kicks off on January 8. It tends to be US-centric, but I might guilt Emma into sending me since I spend the majority of my working year in abject solitude, crying like a baby.
