Huawei launches MediaPad tablet and Vision smartphone

Huawei launches MediaPad tablet and Vision smartphoneWe heard about both the Huawei MediaPad tablet and Huawei Vision smartphone waaay back in summer, and the Chinese manufacturer is finally showing the UK some love.

The Huawei MediPad is memorable in particular for the utterly fantastic ad that found its way onto YouTube. Words cannot describe. Seriously.

Huawei’s UK MD, Mark Mitchinson, tells us to expect the Huawei Vision first. It’ll land before Christmas at Phones 4u, for free on £25PM contracts.

In terms of specs, the Huawei Vision has a 3.7in display, 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM 8255 processor, 5MP camera, and it’ll come in rose, gold, silver or charcoal. Interesting.

It also has a pseudo-3D (in the sense that it’s not autosteroscopic) carousel UI thingy, and will initially ship with Android 2.3 (Gingerbread). Perhaps unsurprisingly, there’s no mention of Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0) at this stage.

The Huawei MediaPad, on the other hand, will land post-Santa, at some point in Q1 of 2012. It’ll cost £275, and has a 7in display, 1.2GHz dual-core Qualcomm processor, front-facing 1.3MP camera, and Android 3.2 (Honeycomb) steering the ship.

Finally, Huawei’s new brand slogan was revealed as: “Let’s simply share.” Er, ok.
