Huawei MediaPad X1 7.0 sounds surprisingly good: 1920 x 1200, quad-core, 2GB RAMThe Huawei MediaPad brand will forever remind me of the World’s Worst Advert. Alas, the YouTube link no longer works.

Anyway! You’d be forgiven for rolling your eyes at the prospect of a new 7in tablet from the Chinese manufacturer (remember the Huawei MediaPad 7 Vogue?), but the MediaPad X1 7.0 actually sounds quite impressive. On paper, at least.

The Droid Guy spotted the Huawei MediaPad X1 7.0 over on Chinese-language site Tenaa, and it’s probably fair to say that he sounds/they sound rather excited.

There’s just the one tiny wee picture of the Huawei MediaPad X1 7.0 to go on at the moment, but the bezel looks fairly slender, which is nice. It’s shown here in white, but is expected to touch down in black, also.

Huawei MediaPad X1 7.0 specs supposedly include a resolution of 1920 x 1200 on the 7in display, yielding a PPI of 323. Not too shabby.

There’s also 2GB of RAM, and Huawei’s proprietary quad-core Hisilicon 910 Kirin processor, clocked at 1.6GHz and paired with a Mali-450 GPU.

The only slight downside here is the presence of Android Jelly Bean, as opposed to KitKat, but if the MediaPad X1 7.0 price is right, Huawei could be onto a winner.

We’ll almost certainly learn more come Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2014, which gets underway in just three weeks’ time.
