Huawei - the "next HTC"

Remember all the talk of Huawei being the "next HTC".

I suppose that mightn't be a good thing now though, eh ;)

But why do they have such low penetration in the west after all the hype?

Because their WP devices suck, and the Android ones, though good, just cannot break Samsung's stronghold. Also: people cannot pronounce the name and feel stupid in a shop asking for, you know...huuuuuuuuu? (never underestimate people's inhibitions)?
Also: people associate the name Huawei with crap broadband speeds even though it's not the fault of Huawei's dongle?

This all of course despite the fact that a huge chunk of BTs infrastructure is sourced from them......
