We’re more than a little disappointed in Huawei. At one point it threatened to become “the next HTC”, but to date it hasn’t made much impact in the west. Still, third place overall ain’t too shabby.
Anyway! Yes. Huawei. It's teasing an upcoming phone in rather strange fashion, announcing the price as _99 (blank nine nine) Chinese Yuan and leaving its fans to guess the first number. Zuh?
The ad is relayed by Playfuldroid, which suggests the price might be 399 or 499 Chinese Yuan. Somewhat surprisingly (not being particularly au fait with Chinese currency without the use of a calculator), that’s roughly £40 or £50 in our money. Pretty cheap!
But heck, you get what you pay for, so don’t expect the specs to be particularly jaw-dropping. QHD display? No. 3GB of RAM? Don't be silly.
Playfuldroid’s sources reckon the ad pertains to the Huawei Hol-T00, with specs including a 5in “HD” display (we’re guessing 720p), 1.3GHz MediaTek processor, 1GB of RAM, and what’s hilariously described as a “depressing” 2MP rear camera. Two megapixels!
We’re not sure when the Huawei Hol-T00 might launch, but it’s unlikely to show face in the UK, anyway, so, er, that’s all for now.
