Huawei to punt own-brand wares exclusively through Phones 4u

Huawei to punt own-brand wares exclusively through Phones 4uWoah, that was quite a meaty headline. We already knew that Huawei was keen to promote its own name in these Uniteds Kingdoms, in a bid to emulate the runaway success of former behind-the-scenes manufacturer HTC.

But the new bit is that it’ll do so exclusively through Phones 4u. That we did not know.

The first two handsets will be the sexy looking Huawei Vision (pictured), and the modest Huawei Blaze. No mention of the Huawei MediaPad just yet, but – as always – I implore you to check out the YouTube ad.

The Huawei Vision boasts a “unique 3D” carousel UI, 3.7in display, 1GHz processor and 5MP camera. Gingerbread (Android 2.3) will handle the OS honours.

The Huawei Blaze has a 3.2in display, 800MHz processor, 3.2MP camera and also runs Gingerbread. It’s expected to go for around £100, and even manages to squeeze in a front-facing camera.

“We’re thrilled to be collaborating with Huawei to bring our customers an exciting new range of high-end, great value smartphones that offer style as well as substance in time for Christmas,” beamed Phones 4u Trading Director Scott Hooton.

“With the new Vision and Blaze devices, it’s clear that Huawei is serious about becoming a key challenger in the competitive smartphone space. We’re delighted to be starting this journey with Huawei, which presents a massive opportunity for both companies and more innovation and choice for our customers.”

Huawei Executive VP Mark Mitchinson added: “Phones 4u has a terrific track record within the UK youth market, which is a key demographic for our emerging brand and compelling smartphone range.

“The Blaze and Vision will be among the very best-specified Android smartphones in the market and we are delighted that Phones 4u has taken the decision to enter into a truly strategic partnership with Huawei, a partnership that offers great consumer value without compromise.

“The Blaze and Vision will appeal to astute and shrewd shoppers. They will also appeal to those who want to be a part of the smartphone revolution for the first time, and to those who want to stand apart with a fresh and rousing new brand.”

The Huawei Vision and Huawei Blaze will be available from Phones 4u in-store and online “in the coming months”. Prices and dates to follow.

I think it's useful when quoting CPU speeds to mention what type of processor it is as the speed itself doesn't really mean much aside from to sound impressive for marketting. In this case it appears to be a 45nm single core Snapdragon which is far from the dual core SoCs powering the 'very best-specified Android smartphones' they refer to but a step-up from the much older ARM11 processors ZTE seem to be sticking with who are clearly where Huawei are aiming.

There is already Ideos available and it better than SF. Same CPU as Desire Z.

Where does it say that it's exclusive?
