Manufacturer UIs are a bit of a mixed blessing, opening the door for unique Android experiences, but often sucking up resource and ultimately delaying future updates.
We’ve already got the likes of HTC Sense (which has been toned down of late) and Samsung’s TouchWiz, and now Huawei is set to reveal its new Android UI, called Emotion.
Not a great deal is known about Huawei Emotion at this stage. The Chinese manufacturer uses vague adjectives such as “simple”, “smart”, and – wait for it – “emotional”. Huh?
The Huawei Emotion UI will be unveiled on June 9 and unleashed on consumers the following month. As such, the Ascend D1 Quad (“world’s fastest smartphone”, if you believe the hype) might mark the debut of Huawei Emotion.
It’s not clear if Huawei Emotion will simply appear on new handsets, or if it’ll be rolled out to existing Huawei smartphones.
Huawei hasn’t said much about Emotion outside of China, though it’s probably fair to say it’ll go global, what with the manufacturer’s aim of becoming a top three manufacturer ‘n’ all.
