Remember the Sony Tablet S and Tablet P? The one that’s weighted like a magazine and the Nintendo-esque one with the dual-screens?
Well, Sony has fired out a couple of press releases promising Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0) for both the Tablet S and Tablet P from April. Good news for all five people who invested in the unique chaps.
The Ice Cream Sandwich update for the Tablet S and Tablet P will, of course, make its debut in Sony’s native Japan. There’s no specific mention of Europe, but we presume it won’t be too far behind.
The update will bring a host of new features, such as the ability to go straight to the camera from the lock screen and take panoramic pictures, while an app called Recopla will allow users to play content recorded on compatible Sony Blu-Ray players.
There’s also a little something called “Small Apps”, which sees a small calculator, remote control or browser running on top of the current app. Interesting.
And finally, Sony reveals that a Wi-Fi only Tablet P is on the way. It’ll go for 50,000 Japanese Yen, which is around £380. Again, it’ll hit Japan first, on April 21. There’s also a range of interchangeable coloured covers. Nice.
