Ice Cream Sandwich source code landing November 17, says Notion Ink CEOI knew I recognised this guy’s name. Remember Rohan Shravan?

Rohan is CEO of Indian manufacturer Notion Ink, who released the controversial “Adam” tablet at the start of the year. A couple of months back he was dropping bombs about the release date for Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0), and now he’s mouthing off about the source code.

Back in September, Rohan said: “Official Ice Cream Sandwich update in November after Google’s launch in late Oct.” Hmm, maybe we should listen to him about this source code thing.

According to Rohan the Ice Cream Sandwich source code will drop on November 17. Hey, that’s only two days away, so we’ll know soon enough whether or not to lynch him.

Owners of the Adam tablet are already prepared to lynch Rohan. Adam was released amid confusion about the specs, the customer service was said to be terrible, and the build quality was reportedly poor. Great stuff.

The Notion Ink Adam was a shame, a tablet that had had real thought put behind it (offering a Pixel QI screen that works like an LCD and also like an e-ink screen with the backlight off so visable in sunlight), full support of USB devices being plugged in like mouse/keyboard, a clever design so its easier to hold etc, however it was let down by a confusing/constantly changing spec and also a relatively poor build quialty, probably due to it being a small start up!

I do hope, like Fusion Garage, they are able to survuive and continue since it is always interesting to see how the little guys try and differinicate their products in what is becoming a packed market!
