Notion Ink, the Indian manufacturer behind the controversial Adam tablet, has seemingly confirmed the release date for Ice Cream Sandwich. Maybe.
According to Notion Ink’s CEO, Rohan Shravan, the next big Android update – which promises to unite smartphones and tablets – will land in October. Hey, that’s next month.
Shravan is quoted as saying: “Official Ice Cream Sandwich update in November after Google’s launch in late Oct.” Interesting.
So either Shravan has accidentally spilled the beans having received official word from Google, or he’s simply going by the “October or November” comment recently made by Eric Schmidt.
The Notion Ink CEO adds that Texas Instruments’ OMAP will “see ICS” before Tegra, saying: “if you go by the industry signals, OMAP is the preferred platform for the next wave of devices.”
We’re quite looking forward to this Google Nexus Prime thingy. It’ll (almost certainly) be the first smartphone to rock Ice Cream Sandwich, and is thought to have a meaty 4.65in Super AMOLED display.
Not long to go now…
