Idiots lose phones at festivals

Idiots lose phones at festivalsOk, that headline isn’t exactly telling you anything you didn’t already know, but a recent survey by insurance dudes Protect Your Bubble includes lots of illuminating stats and stuff.

The survey was conducted at the Wireless Festival in Hyde Park, and suggests that fans of dance music are the most likely to lose their phones. Why does that not surprise me?

It suggests that 1 in 10 dance fans lose their phones at festivals, presumably while waving glowsticks and indulging in, er, chemicals. Well, they’re hardly going to be standing still and sipping a nice refreshing water, are they?

Hip-hop (which is arguably the worst form of music in the wrong hands) fans come in a close second. Nine percent of them lose their phones, possibly as a result of drinking over seven pints, something 84% of them admitted to. Ye-ah, ye-ah, c’mon.

Pop fans are the least likely to have their phones stolen, while rock fans are the most sensible (yes, we are). Almost one-third – 29% to be precise – of rockers take some sort of backup phone to festivals.

Simple answer - buy a cheapo payg handset for 'high risk' occasions, like festivals, stags, hens, weekend jaunts etc. Mine's a Vodafone 345, or the 'Mockberry' as it's been dubbed. £10 from Comet.

Amen to that! Buy cheapy alternatives for such occasions
I was at a gig the other day, and at the end someone was going round asking "Has anyone seen an iPhone?"
I wanted to reply "No, but have you seen my Porsche car keys??"!!

Agreed. I have an old Nokia for festivals and music events. The Battery lasts 5+ days so it is ideal.
Whilst there is no Angry Birds, I do get the chance to play snake. :)
