IFA 2014: Asus MeMO Pad 7 is a new thing

IFA 2014: Asus MeMO Pad 7 is a new thingTo be honest, I had to do a little journalistic digging to convince myself this was a new product, and if Jim Blogger can’t keep up, well, what chance does Joey Consumer have? Or maybe it’s because I’m a blogger that I can’t keep up. Hmm…

Anyway! Impromptu philosophising aside, the Asus MeMO Pad 7 (ME572CL) is indeed a new thing, not to be confused with the lesser MeMO Pad 7 (ME176C) from earlier this year, the MeMO Pad HD7, or indeed any other MeMO Pad.

The new Asus MeMO Pad 7 is easily the most impressive 7in MeMO Pad to date, kicking things off with an eye-friendly better-than-HD 1920 x 1200 display. Shades of the spanking new Lenovo Tab S8 there, though the MeMO Pad 7 wins on PPI (pixels per inch) having a slightly smaller display.

Interestingly, the Asus MeMO Pad 7 boasts some sort of anti-fingerprint coating, while simultaneously courting 10-finger multi-touch. You cheeky so-and-so.

Other Asus MeMO Pad 7 specs include a quad-core 64-bit Intel Z3560 processor, 2GB of RAM, 16 or 32GB expandable storage, and 5MP/2MP cameras.

Asus MeMO Pad 7 battery life weighs in at an impressive 11 hours, while your colours are Rose Champagne, Gentle Black and Burgundy Red.

Like what you hear? Asus MeMO Pad 7 price comes in at £179 in the UK, while a pricier 4G-friendly version is supposedly on the horizon, too.

Ah, they imitate the worst element of highend Sony phones: the position of the camera lens!!!
Will OEMs ever stop that? A) very easy to cover that way B) very easy to breat if camera drops...
