Being headquartered in London, we should really be 100% behind mobile phone manufacturer INQ. It’s no Samsung, but it’ll have to do.
Well, patriots, get read to set those Union Jacks to half-mast, as INQ has revealed that the Cloud Q – first announced at Mobile World Congress almost one year ago – has officially been canned.
The INQ Cloud Q was revealed alongside the INQ Cloud Touch last February in Barcelona. The pair boasted integrated Facebook goodness, but were somewhat overshadowed by the Zuckerberg-backed HTC Salsa and ChaCha.
Still, the INQ Cloud Touch was released to generally favourable reviews, and has reportedly now sold out in the UK. Nice work, chaps.
But what of the INQ Cloud Q? It’s essentially an INQ Cloud Touch with a smaller display – in order to accommodate a full QWERTY keyboard underneath. Well, INQ tells Electric Pig: “After a lot of analysis through the back end of 2011 we made a tough decision to pull the Cloud Q from the INQ roadmap to focus efforts on our future products.”
What those “future products” might be is entirely unclear, and the company isn’t set to make any announcements at Mobile World Congress. However, INQ assures us: “we have some excellent ideas and enhancements we’ll be bringing to future releases of our software.”
